David McCullough, “Citizen Chronicler”

Within the list of great modern historian/authors such as Barbara Tuchman, William Shirer, Cornelius Ryan and Steven Ambrose, must be included David McCullough. Labeled the “citizen chronicler” by United States Congress Librarian James Billington, McCullough is the recipient of 2 Pulitzer Prizes, 2 National Book Awards, 2 Francis Parkman Prizes and the nation’s highest civilian award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, justifiably deeming him America’s foremost narrator of it’s past.
